SMHL Vimetco Installed, commissioned and finally commenced the Dry Beneficiation Bauxite (DBB) production in the northern part of the concession which is more commonly known as “Mokanji”. This is one of the new additions in SMHL current bauxite production portfolio. SMHL intends to produce 500,000 tonnes of DBB per annum starting this year. The production is only limited to the dry season period lasting from December to May every year. This production will contribute to the enhancement of SMHL Vimetco production capacity from 1.7 million tonnes to 2.2 million tonnes of commercial bauxite per annum.
