SMHL Vimetco commenced short to medium terms rehabilitation and reconstruction of its tailing storage facilities in Gondama to ensure sustainable production of premium washed bauxite from wash plant and to guaranty discharge of clarified water back to the community. SMHL Vimetco engaged the expertise and services of SRK Consulting to provide the appropriate design and engineering construction solutions for the proposed reconstruction work. At the completion of the current rehabilitation program the current life of washed production will be enhanced or sustained for a period of 5 years given the current rate of discharge of wash plant tailings.
